
They shared the same birth date but "Vi" was 10 years younger. On November 5, 1966, he married Viola Georgiana Gualazzi.

He was a long-time member of the Library Lions Club. After his father's death he maintained ownership of the bar with his mother until her death then his retirement. After four years in the service, he worked in his parent's bar and restaurant, the Piney Fork Tavern and played all over Pennsylvania and West Virginia in a four-piece band called Hot and Tots. He was well known for playing the accordion for the officers club events. During World War II, he served together with his brother in the Army Air Corps at Camp Pinedale, near Fresno, California. He grew up in Snowden Township with his Italian-speaking parents Andrea Taboni and Sara Bastianini and remained fluent in Italian.

Also, his brother-in-law, Robert Gualazzi (Nancy) and many close cousins.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Angeline Taboni (Dominick), nieces, Andrea Schmitt (Dave) and Renée Modrak (Jeff), grandniece, Darcy Templeton (Sam) and many godchildren. On January 22, 2022, Gutrie "Getto" Taboni, of Chartiers Bend Retirement Community, formerly of Southpointe and Library, passed away at age 103.
